Nabana no Sato
The small road is only about 1.5 kilometers long, but was selected as one of Japan’s best 100 roads. The philosopher Nishida Kitaro is said to have walked the path in contemplation, leading to the name of the road.
Cherry blossoms in the spring and turning leaves in the autumn provide a colorful backdrop to the path that meanders beside the small creek. Wouldn’t it be a thrill to walk along the path, taking in a glimpse of the flower petals floating in the brook? You’ll be certain to become lost in thought, a veritable philosopher in the making.
From JR Kyoto Station, take the JR Biwako Line going towards Nagahama for 20 minutes to Yamashina Station. Transfer to the Municipal Tozai Line towards Uzumasa Tenjin and get off at Keage Station. Walk about 5 minutes to Philosopher’s Path.
