Set in the lush green countryside of Hiji, Harmonyland promises to charm visitors with what can only be described as adorable attractions. As the only outdoor Sanrio theme park in Japan and a lively diversion from nearby Beppu and its hot springs, younger visitors and Hello Kitty fans will feel particularly at home.
The ubiquitously cute Hello Kitty is joined by fellow Sanrio characters, Cinnamoroll and My Melody; all of whom perform in enchanting daily shows. Star park attractions include the Kitty Castle, for photo ops with the famous feline; the Harmony Train, and the Wonder Panorama ferris wheel with views all the way out to Beppu Bay.
The park also includes boat rides, go-karts, roller coasters and merry-go-rounds as well as the more athletic ninja course for older children. Most of the rides are suitable for children aged four or over when accompanied by adults.
After a quick bite? Prefer a sit-down meal? As well as various fast food options, Harmonyland also offers a restaurant serving charming character-themed creations. And pop into the gift shops before leaving to pick up some original Sanrio souvenirs and bring a little of the day’s cuteness home with you.
