Walking on Drift Ice
Mount Nokogiri is situated on the boundary between the city of Futtsu and the town of Kyonan at the western edge of the Kiyosumi mountain range.
It has been used as a landmark for ships entering Tokyo Bay since ancient times due to its steep ridges that look like the teeth of a saw. From the summit its slopes plummet precipitously into the sea below. Here and there you can see vertical cliffs that are the remnants of stone quarries where boshu stone was cut from the Muromachi period until 1982. The 329.5 meter peak can be reached either on foot or by ropeway. The ropeway's mountaintop station is located at a height of 250 meters. Nihon-ji Temple features the Jushu Ichiran Dai observation deck, where you can enjoy a 360 degree view.
