Seiwa Bunrakukan

Seiwa Bunraku is a form of rural entertainment performed as an offering to the gods of agriculture that has continued since the Edo period. This is the only theater in Kyushu dedicated to Bunraku performances. It was built as part of the Kumamoto Artpolis project, so its unique architecture catches the eye. In addition to watching performances, at Seiwa Bunrakukan you can also see the puppets up close, and learn how the puppeteers control them. Those who wish to can take a tour of the backstage area as well. There is even a roadside station adjacent to the theater where you can buy fresh Yamato-cho produce.
